Setting out to create a more efficient course to meet new needs in comfort, technology and sustainability, Costa Ballena Ocean Club started a complete overhaul of its facilities, spanning almost two years, across different parts of the Club.

Now it is beginning to see the benefits of a job well done, boosted by the restart of international travel and welcoming back its traditional flow of players from Northern Europe, who have been eager to come and enjoy the improvements and new facilities.

International activity has returned to Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club following a period of more than a year when the flow of visitors came almost entirely from the local area. Autumn 2021 has brought the winds of change and the reactivation of air traffic has been a real boon to Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club, bringing with it the return of the international golfer who, this time round, seems to be back to stay.

Costa Ballena Golf Club, like many other courses in Spain, is currently enjoying this long-awaited shift and the return of tourists from outside the country to play golf, with the added boost of being able to offer the fruits of the continuous investment and refurbishment undergone in recent years. A new look that was crying out to be enjoyed and tried by pro players, amateur associations and the most demanding European customers alike.

These improvements consisted of a complete refurbishment of all the greens on the golf course, including the practice areas for short-game training, as well as the creation of a high-performance centre.

Coinciding with the return of international golf tour operators, Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club held the official opening of its Performance Golf Center, which is already operating at ‘full swing’.

At this inaugural event was Enrique Soto, director of Costa Ballena Golf Academy, who presented its 3D technology, a sophisticated tool capable of identifying, measuring and shaping practically any aspect when studying sporting performance in golf. It was also a chance to enjoy the working demonstration of Trackman technology – equipment for measuring and analysing all the variables of the game using Dual Radar technology. A radical transformation in the way radar technology is applied in golf today, applying two radar systems for maximum data quality and higher collection rates.

But this is just the beginning of the renewal and continuous progress at Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club – we will have fresh updates very soon from this course set in Cadiz province, the most in-vogue area of the country.
