Finca Cortesin Digest New Global Golf Acclaim

Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa is celebrating new global recognition after receiving a top international accolade from Golf Digest magazine, the world’s biggest golf title.

The exclusive resort in Andalusia, southern Spain, is one of an elite group of venues to be chosen as a recipient of the magazine’s coveted ‘2020 Editors’ Choice Award for the Best Resorts in Continental Europe’.

Unveiled in the April issue of Golf Digest, the awards – which were launched in 2016 – highlight ‘the best things in golf’, with the emphasis on lifestyle properties, products and services.

Featuring a who’s who of the elite names in the global golf industry, this year’s list of winners was compiled following close consultation with a combination of the magazine’s international affiliate titles and around 1,200 golf-course raters.

Max Adler, editorial director for Golf Digest, said: “The winners in our ‘Editors’ Choice Best Resorts’ category are those which we’d confidently recommend to any golfer. Resorts named are first-class facilities that, first and foremost, have an exemplary offering of unique and quality golf courses. The facilities must also have amenities that separate themselves from others.”

The award is the latest top accolade to have been bestowed on Finca Cortesin recently – including being named as the winner of the ‘Best Staff Operation’ honour at the European Tour Destinations Awards and being voted ‘Best Golf Resort in Europe’ by users of the respected website Leadingcourses.com.

René Zimmer, general manager at Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa, said: “Golf Digest is one of the most recognised golf publications in the world, and so for us to have been chosen when the standards are so high across Europe is a great honour and privilege.

“Receiving awards of this nature show just how highly Finca Cortesin is regarded by the global golfing community, and we’re looking forward to building on the success in 2020.”

Set across a vast 532-acre estate, Finca Cortesin – which was also voted number one in the ‘Top 20 Hotels in Spain & Portugal’ category in the Condé Nast Traveler magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2019 – is regarded among Europe’s most exclusive modern golf and lifestyle destination resorts.

Nestling in the rolling hills of southern Spain, between Marbella and Sotogrande, with the Mediterranean to one side and the tranquil Casares Mountains to the other, Finca Cortesin’s 18-hole championship course was designed by Cabell Robinson and has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments – including the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2011 and 2012. It is the first venue in Spain to feature a new, eco-friendly variety of Bermuda grass on all its greens.

Complementing the par-72 layout are outstanding practice facilities including Finca Cortesin’s recently-upgraded Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy, which features the very latest golf-swing technology as well as offering an exclusive five-star club-fitting experience using equipment from some of the game’s top golf club brands including Honma Golf – global leaders in the manufacture of premium golf equipment.

Finca Cortesin’s other world-class facilities include an elegant 67-suite hotel; a 6,000sqm Beach Club; an award-winning spa featuring Spain’s only snow cave; and the choice of four restaurants.

Its world-class facilities include an elegant 67-suite hotel, Hotel Cortesin, a magnificent 18-hole championship golf course with state-of-the-art Jack Nicklaus Academy, a 6,000sqm Beach Club and an award-winning spa featuring Spain’s only snow cave, with bespoke treatments by French beauty brand Biologique Recherche.
