Double Masters Champion at Augusta will be present at Meliá Villaitana Golf Clubtogether with Miguel Angel Jimenez and winning Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley
José María Olazábal will be one of the stars who will play at the Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters from the 29th November until 1st December at Meliá Villaitana Golf Club. The event will be the only Staysure Tour (European Tour Event) on spanish soil.
Olazábal has, at 52 years has 30 victories of which 23 are on the European Tour. Winner of The Masters in 1994 y 1999 has won on the five continents and has participated on eight Ryder Cups, having captained the winning team in 2012 at the historic “miracle of Medinah”.
Olazábal recently returned to action after some complicated weeks: “at the British Senior Open I had a bad back and was out for two months…. Also my mother has had a complicated operation and I decide to stay at home to look after her. This is why I have not competed since June. I played on the Staysure Tour in Denmark and playing in November in Spain is going to be very special
Olazábal is anxious to play on the spectacular design by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. “I do not know the course yet but will have some practice rounds and hopefully play well in front of the local crowds”.
Olazábal will join his compatriot Miguel Ángel Jiménez, and other great players such as Paul McGinley, Barry Lane, Phillip Price, Gordon Brand Jr, Constantino Rocca, Gordon J. Brand, Phillip Walton, Eamonn Darcy, Jean Van de Velde, Peter Baker, Thomas Levet, José Rivero o José Cóceres. “I am going to be with my good friends Jimenez, Miguel Martin, Santiago Luna and Jose Rivero and will be nice to support new events such as the Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters”
