The third edition of Marbella Luxury Weekend generates great expectations

The third edition of Marbella Luxury Weekend, taking place from 30th May until 2nd June, has re-established its foundations with the sectors of fashion, jewellery, the motor industry and cuisine – sectors which highlight the concepts of exclusivity, quality, excellence and luxury. For another year this event is positioned as a platform of prestige and image for the town of Marbella, both inside and beyond Spanish borders.

At the presentation of the new programme, introducing the participating firms, Ángeles Muñoz, Mayoress of Marbella, noted that this initiative is “organised and run by the Town Council and in particular, by the Delegation of Tourism, but it is also backed by the private sector made up of nearly fifty companies that have joined as participants, sponsors and contributors, putting their faith in the prestige of our on going project to position the town as a benchmark for luxury tourism.”

During the press conference, which was also attended by the Delegate of Tourism, José Luis Hernández, the CEO of La Zagaleta, Jacobo Cestino, the President of CIT Marbella Juan José Gonzalez, and José Vidiella, Vice President of Puerto Banús, the Mayoress wanted to emphasise that this year the organisation expects to exceed the number of visitors who attended the event last year (50,000 people), and with only 8 days to go almost 100% of hotel rooms have been reserved for the days of the event.

José Luis Hernández, the Delegate of Tourism of Marbella Town Council, stressed the commitment of the participating and collaborating firms to the town of Marbella and pointed out the most significant developments of this third edition. He mentioned some examples such as the presence of French Lido dancers who will present the new collection from Maison Lejaby and the exhibition of new vehicles from Guarnieri Group as well as the events from firms such as Tod’s and Salvatore Ferragamo, both of whichare introducing products exclusively for Marbella Luxury Weekend.

The Councillor also highlighted the altruistic efforts of the two-Michelin-starred chef, Dani García, “who will be catering for the opening party and whose commitment and relationship with this town is obvious and significant.”

Hernández emphasised the cultural and artistic dimension of this edition with the presence of Faim Art, an independent art fair from Madrid, which is characterised by its innovative and transgressive philosophy that has endured since its inception in the capital and which is, for the first time, coming to Marbella.
There will be other new features such as a hot air balloon for VIP guests as well as a sailing cruise for those fortunate enough to attend. Throughout the event there will be a mobility service, the possibility of test driving the latest models from Mercedes-Benz and many more surprises accessible to the visiting public.
On Friday 31st May, coinciding with Marbella Luxury Weekend, La Zagaleta will launch the second edition of the Brands and Trends Forum, an initiative bringing together leading global executives from various sectors. The director of La Zagaleta, Jacobo Cestino, pointed out the high corporate profile of the guest speakers for this year, among which include the presidents of companies such as Coca-Cola Spain and RENFE as well as the National Director of Google. He also announced the presence of Ana García Siñeriz as presenter of the Forum.

Juan José González emphasised the importance of the large number of brands that have joined this third edition, consolidating its trajectory, and he encouraged all business owners to join this event as well as other events which have the common goal of promoting economic growth in Marbella, and its image as a luxury tourist destination.
The opening party will take place on Thursday 30th May at 9:30pm in the VIP Tower Tent, an area where the majority of the events will be concentrated over the four days of MLW.
