Orender brings golf expertise to La Manga Club

La Manga Club is pleased to announce that MG Orender, former president of the PGA of America, is to add his wealth of golfing knowledge and expertise to the Spanish resort after joining its board of directors.

Orender is one of the most highly-regarded and best known names in the golf world and boasts a prestigious and impressive CV, best symbolised by his role as president of the PGA of America during 2003 and 2004.
During a golf career spanning more than 30 years, Orender, who is currently president of Hampton Golf Clubs – a collection of south-east America’s most outstanding public private and semi-private courses – has been involved and responsible for the construction of 21 golf courses in different countries.
He has also managed nearly 40 golf clubs and, during his time as head of the PGA of America, used his expertise to work to increase golf participation among new and occasional golfers. Orender was inducted into the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame in 2005.

“The appointment of Mr Orender, together with the leadership of the new management team and the financial restructuring carried out, shows our commitment and dedication to achieving the repositioning of La Manga Club resort in a short and medium term.”
MG Orender is the third high-profile appointment to be made at La Manga Club in the last six months following the arrivals of renowned entrepreneur and businessman Gerbeau and new general manager Jose Asenjo.
Set in an area three times the size of Monaco, La Manga Club has been voted by readers of the UK’s Today’s Golfer magazine as the unanimous winner of the ‘Best Golf Resort in Spain’ for the last three years, while it is also the overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association until 2016.
As well as three 18-hole championship courses, La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination including a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
