The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort offers quality of service and facilities that have been recently improved, set in a peaceful and quiet environment. An extensive variety of possibilities which includes a hotel, a golf course, a Kids’ Club, a Spa & Gym, meeting rooms, restaurants and golf and paddle tennis lessons. These amenities are suited for all kind of guests in different seasons; families who come to spend the summer as well as corporate events, weddings and golf events, of course.
Those who travel with their club bag will be impressed by this golf course development in recent years and its high maintenance level nowadays. New investments have been put into landscape gardening, new bunkering, a new irrigation system and new machinery. All these improvements make a big difference in the quality of the game.
However, there are more actions to be taken as our main objective is renewing the complex completely. We have planned to carry out important renovation works soon that will affect the club house, some meeting rooms and several other hotel areas. José Luis Gómez, the Golf Manager tells us about it.
What areas of the resort will be affected by these renovation works?
We aim to continue improving the Resort and thus, we have established a list of objectives for the golf course and other areas of the club house, the hotel and supplementary facilities. We can say we have completed the 80 per cent of the initial objective and we are hoping to finalize everything in 2020.
What works will affect the golf course?
One the golf course we have finished a complete bunker renovation that uses a new building technique that add the best drainage system in the market and makes La Quinta one of the most well prepared course to enjoy even in the eventuality of rain.
On the other hand, we have also renovated all the course maintenance machinery. We incorporated hybrid machines as well as some with GPS system. Then, they are more efficient and sustainable as they use less fuel and are more productive when carrying out maintenance tasks.
Along the lines of maintaining and improving the environment, La Quinta Golf is a pioneer in avoiding certain tasks that traditionally, have a negative effect on the environment. For example, we have incorporated several fish species to the lakes in order to control algae that spread in the summer and thus, we avoid using chemical regulators.
The last time we interviewed you, you mentioned that your main objective was renovating the complex completely, especially the club house, some meeting rooms and other hotel areas. Tell us about the works that have already been carried out.
Concerning the facilities, we have renovated the proshop completely. Apart from this, we have renovated some meetings rooms located in the golf club. As the hotel will be closed due to seasonal ending, we will renew a functional meeting room with panoramic sea views and overlooking the golf course. This is the ideal place to hold small celebrations, group meetings and private events. These facilities and our large hall rooms make The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa a reference place for both corporate events and weddings.
What are the strong points of the golf course after this remodeling works?
Although the hotel will be closed from December to February (both included), our club house and meeting rooms will remain open all year round and are available for events.
